Dr Debbie Wake

Dr Debbie Wake is a NHS Diabetes Consultant, (MBChB, BSc, PhD, Clin Ed Dip) and Clinical Reader at the Centre for Medical informatics, Usher institute, University of Edinburgh. She is clinical lead for MyDiabetesMyWay (NHS Scotland's diabetes platform).

In 2017, she cofounded MyWay Digital Health (MWDH) (www.mwdh.co.uk), a University of Dundee spin out company which runs NHS England's mytype1diabetes.nhs.uk platform and several regional UK/international diabetes patient self-management/clinical analytics platforms (MyWay Diabetes/Clinical), delivering education to over 1.5m people and linking ~150,000 people to NHS data-services.

Debbie is an expert in diabetes education and leads national artificial intelligence (AI) research programmes supported by NIHR and UKRI. She is an alumni of the Diabetes UK Clinical Champion/NHS Innovation Accelerator/Clinical Entrepreneur programmes and a IUK Women in Innovation Award winner.
